In the dimly lit corners of the stage, shadows whisper tales of a young prince: Pippin. Guided by the mysterious Leading Player, watch as Pippin struggles through a labyrinth of desires, constantly grappling with the call of power, love’s seduction and the allure of self-discovery. But lurking beneath the surface lies a cryptic truth waiting to be unveiled, beckoning Pippin to unravel the mysteries of his own existence. This hilarious yet poignant musical, with lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Roger O. Hirson, is sure to leave audiences spellbound in a realm of mystery and wonder.

Edinburgh University Footlights’ production of Pippin is a tour de force of musical theatre, packed with fun, feeling and thought-provoking moral questions.

Following our five star sell-out production of ‘COMPANY’ in 2022, Footlights are delighted to announce our return to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2023 with: ‘SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE’.

With music and lyrics by the late Stephen Sondheim and book by John Lapine, the Tony and Olivier award winning ‘SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE’ is a contemporary take on a hilariously witty and beautiful tale about love, art and chasing success, promises to resonate today.

‘This was a Sondheim show that I doubted I would ever have a chance to see on stage. I am, therefore, hugely grateful for the opportunity to enjoy such a wonderful performance - moving, thought provoking, and with superb acting and singing.’

With music and lyrics by the late Stephen Sondheim, the Tony and Olivier award winning ‘COMPANY’ takes us on a journey through dinner parties, first dates, and emotional encounters as the characters make sense of their relationships, vulnerability, and what ‘being alive’ truly means.

An extraordinary pool of youthful talent - singing, acting, music and direction - that rivals what you would expect from professionals.

Edinburgh University Footlights are proud to present Green Day’s award winning musical "American Idiot" this Fringe season. This show takes the most electrifying of Green Day’s music and brings it to life in a non-stop assault on the senses. We follow Johnny, the self-proclaimed Jesus of Suburbia, and his equally disaffected friends Will and Tunny as they struggle to find meaning in their lives. They are trapped between rage and love, a concept that defines and drives their generation. Visceral and explosive, this show will have you humming guitar solos for weeks.

I was, of course, expecting to enjoy it, but I wasn’t expecting it to be quite THIS good.
— Lew Forman, 2018
The cast throughout are entirely committed to putting on the best possible show that they can. The camaraderie and spirit the company share is incredibly impressive.
